Aviator Assessment
Aviator is a validated career assessment and planning software, which utilizes a criteria-referenced battery of short, computer-based tests to assess job-related interests, skills, and aptitudes. Scores are related to work-related factors of the U.S. Department of Labour's "Revised Handbook for Analyzing Jobs". Physical aptitudes can be measured using other instruments and the results included in Aviator's search and reporting functions. It takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.
Aviator contains two occupational databases of approximately 1000 jobs each, which can be searched for matches of interests and skill/aptitude levels. The Standard database is derived from the U.S. Department of Labour's collection of 12700+ jobs, using the 66 interest areas of the "Guide for Occupational Exploration" as a filter. Aviator's O*Net database is based on the U.S. Government's online O*Net.
As part of the assessment process, participants also complete the Canadian Work Preference Inventory (CWPI), which generates the preference profile utilized by the Canadian Government in their occupational descriptors. As both the U.S. and Canadian governments use most of the same aptitude descriptions, participant aptitude level scores, plus their CWPI profiles, can be used to generate Canadian occupational matches to the online National Occupational Classification (NOC) database.
The Aviator assessment can be provided as a single, stand-alone service or as a component of a more comprehensive vocational assessment, including a community-based work assessment.
